Ummies.info is the brainchild of Nazurullah Khan, founder – proprietor of Pusat Komputer Khan (PKK), (Khan Computer Centre). PKK is the sole developer, producer and copyright holder of ummies.info.  

All over the world, all Muslims read the Holy Quran. PKK’s contribution is to make available materials (website, CD – Rom & book) so that Arabic Language is easily learnt and the Holy Quran is not only read but also understood.

Besides, Arabic – language learning is made scientific, simple and easy through multilingual mode, so that others would come to learn and appreciate Arabic language & culture.

The First Multimedia Multilingual Scientific Simplified e-Learning of Arabic Language via Internet, CD-Rom and COSITEX (Computer Simulated Textbook).

At the speed ICT (Information Communication Technology) grows and develops into the cultures of world communities, it is incumbent that Muslims especially Malaysians who are set to launch vision 2020 (developed nation status) should all become literate in the Arabic language to understand the Quran. The Quran has been revealed in pure Arabic, which was the language of our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The last few centuries of ignorance of Arabic has kept non-Arab Muslims from understanding the Quran.

The Universal Multimedia Multilingual Integrated Educational Service, (Ummies) has been developed by Pusat Komputer Khan in association with Arabic language experts and computer programmers to teach the language in a simple scientific manner. Arabic fluency with understanding can be acquired in a short period by using it.

Allah appointed His last prophet from the Arab community and revealed the Quran in pure Arabic to teach Scripture, wisdom and the Holy knowledge. It is obligatory upon all Muslims

• to read it

• to understand it

• to believe in it

• to live by its teachings
  and

• to convey its teachings to others.

Ever since the Quran was revealed, the manifestation of its truth has never been questioned although challenges have cropped up throughout the ages. The purity of all the Quranic verses has always been maintained

Ummies has taken upon itself the duty of devising an easy, simple, scientific methodology of learning Arabic language, the necessary key to read and understand the Holy Quran.

Objective

Ummies objective is to provide a self-study program that will, Inshah Allah, be a key to learning easily the Arabic language to understand the Holy Quran. Ummies will give instruction for and training in:

            listening
            speaking
            reading
                and
            writing arabic language

through the Internet Computer Simulated Textbook and Compact Disc packages.

The learning of the Quran is made easy by daily exercises, Arabic expressions and Quran recitation.

Ummies (from ‘ummun’ for mother) is the first to introduce the Multilingual Learning of Arabic Language via Internet through its website: www.ummies.info

www.ummies.info is available free in the net 24 hours a day from 7^th  July 2002 (pre-launch Tamil). It is sponsored by patrons, advertisers and well wishers.

Initiating ummies.

The Tamil version of ummies.info was jointly pre-launched by Pusat Komputer Khan & Ubaidi Trust  on Sunday 07^th  July 2002 at Dewan  Megapuri, Bangunan  DBKL, Kuala Lumpur. Tuan Hishamudin Tan Sri S.O.K. Ubaidulla, Trustee Yayasan Ubaidi and YB Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa  bin Hj. Abdullah, Managing Director, FOMEMA SDN BHD., graced the pre-launch. English, and Bahasa Malaysia versions will follow soon. 

Ummies.info Concept

Arabic, Quran and Islam are integral and intertwined. They, therefore, require a scientific approach to learn them properly. Ummies comes here with its scientific approach to the learning of Arabic language.

Once you know the 28 Arabic letters, the initial sound of each letter and the three different positions of each letter in a word, you can start reading Arabic in 6 hours, recite the Holy Quran in 60 hours, and speak Arabic in 90 hours (judicious and optimum use of the time indicated). Its scientific teaching method will enable a person to read, with a reasonable understanding, the Holy Quran.

You can build Arabic vocabulary easily through conjugation and declension of words, as the rules for conjugation and declension are uniform and regular. From one word, for example, you can form at least 126 expressions. If you learn well 100 words, you potentially know 12,600 expressions.

Especially for children, conjugation and declension of words are put in a rhythmic form. The language sinks into them even as they sing.

Ummies is the first to introduce this new rhythmic vocabulary builder for children. Children of age 3 years and above can master the word forming techniques by rhythmic rhymes easily at nurseries and kindergartens. It is even helpful to students in schools, matriculation classes, and universities.

You can practise writing on the computer - a new concept introduced by ummies. You will be able to write on shadow letters and be able to pronounce the letters by clicking “Say”. www.ummies.info is the first full-fledged multimedia attempt to teach Arabic through the internet. This program is applicable to all learners irrespective of age and qualification, space and time. By computer-aided learning, you can learn as often as you wish and practise at your convenience. 

Ummies Educational Service.

Ummies hopes to expand its service in the near future:

• to help set up Arabic lessons for small groups of 20 – 30 students  through ICT. (Group Learning)

• to provide software, accessories and train staff to teach Arabic. (At Institutions)

• to enable working adults and elders to read the Quran. (Adult Education) Ummies will assist by providing software and accessories.

• To teach non-Muslims the Arabic language. (Arabic for non-Muslims)     Ummies will assist the organizers as above.

In future, students will acquire faster education through Multimedia Computer Assisted Learning (MCAL).

Ummies in madrasas

An ustaz in madrasah conducts lessons in groups. Students at the same level but of different age and attainment are taught together. It is not practical for the ustaz to teach students individually. There is also difficulty in teaching new students and older students at the same time. Students have to wait for their turn for individual attention. That involves time. By using the www.ummies.info the ustaz can give individual attention to students. Besides, this will lessen the workload of the ustaz and increase his effectiveness. Ummies will actually increase his importance and usefulness.

The students initially learn through the computer and are later tested by the ustaz. In this way, the ustaz can monitor students individually. Quality of education is thus assured.

Ummies in homes

The www.ummies.info is a user-friendly program. One without ICT background will be able to operate the computer easily. Lessons are taught in a way that parents and children learn simultaneously.

From the ummies concept the children can acquire confidence to speak Arabic in schools with friends. A house-wife can keep track of her children and report progress to the husband. The husband-wife-child interaction will make learning faster, easier and fun-filled. Above all, it will build a well-knit family.

Ummies methodology is such that even parents, without competence in handling computers, can train their children easily. Children are known to use computers for games, movies and surfing the net. Parents can use this golden opportunity to educate their children through this program.
